Goku Black: Uncovering the Secrets of Dragon Ball’s Newest Villain

The majority of Dragon Ball Super’s existence has been devoted to enlarging the Dragon Ball universe’s mythos and universe itself. As if having Gods of Destruction, Angels, and Supreme Kai in eleven different universes wasn’t enough, the show opted to incorporate time travel once more for the most intricate villain origin tale to date.

To put it mildly, Goku Black’s debut in the Future Trunks timeline is convoluted. It’s possible that the multiverse-hopping, time-traveling, body-swapping antagonist has caused more than one spectator to take out a pencil and paper.

Future Bulma dubbed him “Goku Black” The real identity of this enemy is eventually revealed to be Zamasu, the Supreme Kai of Universe 10’s apprentice, because he resembles Goku, wears black, and is evil. This instantly made people wonder why the enemy resembled Goku and where he came from.

Understanding Zamasu himself is crucial to understanding the chain of events that resulted in the destruction of the Future Trunks timeline and the ascent of Goku Black.

One of the most recognizable anime characters ever is Goku, who continues to be the primary character of the Dragon Ball series despite efforts to switch to other heroes. That makes the possibility that he has an evil twin all the more intriguing.

Although the idea has been tackled in earlier, occasionally extracanonical adventures, Dragon Ball Super’s Goku Black and Zamasu is the best example to date. Furthermore, Goku Black proved to be a formidable opponent that was difficult for even the actual Goku and Vegeta to overcome.

Who Is Zamasu In Dragon Ball Super?

It is the duty of a Supreme Kai to initiate life and track its development in the universe they have been allocated. Originating from Universe 10, Zamasu pursued his education to become the next Supreme Kai. But as time goes on, the Supreme Kai Zamasu comes to hate the mortals he is entrusted to protect; to him, they are ugly, violent blots on the beauty of life.

This animosity even turns into animosity toward the other gods, who permit the mortals to rule unchecked because they choose not to become involved. Eventually, he devises “Project Zero Mortals,” a scheme to exterminate every deity and human in the multiverse.

It took a lot of hoop-jumping for Zamasu to transform from a disgruntled Kai into Goku Black, even though his origin tale was an interesting one for a villain. In the main universe, Beerus, the God of Destruction, arrives to Universe 10 and destroys Zamasu, sparing the main timeline of the series from his ambitions thanks to knowledge gleaned from the arrival of Future Trunks.

In contrast, the villainous Kai apprentice kills his master and takes his Time Ring before leaving for Universe 6, the home of the Super Dragon Balls, in a different future in which Beerus does not destroy Zamasu.

Using the all-powerful Super Shenron, Zamasu wishes to switch bodies with Goku from that timeframe in this new, parallel reality. Since he is a Supreme Kai and has very little combat strength, he needed Goku’s Super Saiyan abilities to enable him to carry out his mission on his own. Zamasu quickly kills Gohan, Goten, and Chi-Chi after obtaining Goku’s body and power.

He then uses the Time Ring that was taken to travel to the timeline of Future Trunks. There, he enacts Project Zero Mortals alongside the Zamasu of that era. Here, he assumes the name Goku Black since neither Future Trunks nor Bulma, his mother and old friend, know who he really is.

How Goku Black Is Defeated?

Goku Black and Zamasu eventually combine to form Fused Zamasu in the Dragon Ball Super anime, integrating the characteristics of both warriors. With the new transformation totally consumed by evil and hatred, this form was the villain’s ultimate trump card.

Although he makes fun of Future Trunks for his alleged frailty, the youthful Saiyan is able to use Earthly energy to forge a sword, viciously stab his adversary, and chop him in half. Sadly, Fused Zamasu’s will survived and became Infinite Zamasu, thus this wasn’t quite the resolution Future Trunks had anticipated.

Goku, having no other choice, makes use of a gadget that Zeno gave him. Then Future Zeno shows up, and he is irritated at Infinite Zamasu’s presence. This causes him to wipe out the remaining pieces of Fused Zamasu/Goku Black as well as the whole universe of future timelines that resulted from their deeds.

With a few noteworthy exceptions, the Dragon Ball Super manga was extremely similar to this. The main distinction was that once Fused Zamasu was stabbed and split in two, the fight went on for a lot longer. In this version, Goku and his companions are besieged by an army of Future Zamasus, which forces Goku to summon the strength of Future Zeno.

After that, everything proceeds essentially as it did in the anime, with Zeno wiping out both Zamasu and the future timeline from the multiverse. This was the end for the entity once known as Goku Black, barring flashbacks. Despite his brief appearance, this opponent is often considered as one of the greatest Dragon Ball Super antagonists, if not the greatest enemy in the whole series.

Why Does Goku Black Turn Pink?

Goku Black’s origin, when it is finally revealed, still falls short of fully explaining why Goku Black becomes pink. By wishing to enter Goku’s body, Zamasu was able to become both a Kai and a Saiyan, giving him access to all of Goku’s Saiyan abilities. Blond hair results from mortals like Goku and Vegeta using god power to become Super Saiyans.

This is apparent in the first three Super Saiyan transformations; however, their hair turns blue when they assume the Super Saiyan God form. But because Zamasu is a god, his hair becomes pink—or Rosé, as he refers to it—when he uses god power to transform into a Super Saiyan. In other words, Super Saiyan Blue and Super Saiyan Rosé are identical forms; the only distinction in hue is whether the user is a god or a mortal.

Ever since Captain Ginyu also took Goku’s body and there were non-canonical Turles, Dragon Ball has always been a fan of wicked Gokus. Nonetheless, in Turles’ instance, Dragon Ball Z:

In the anime and manga, The Tree of Might is regarded as non-canonical. This implies that the Goku Black “predecessor” has little to do with the story. In the same way, no other character ever responded to Ginyu’s canonical occurrence of assuming Goku’s body. Super demonstrated an amazing level of commitment to creating another evil Goku, even incorporating Future Trunks’ return and the enlarged series backstory.

Regretfully, Goku Black’s time in the anime was primarily devoted to describing his origins. If Zamasu hadn’t had to spend so much time explaining his plan to everyone, it most likely would have succeeded.
